KLH 17 Crossovers Recap

I see where one of the Caps is a 8mfd. I was on parts express and they had 8.2uf. Would that be OK going a little over 8?
I really didn't want to parallel two 4uf or some other combination.

Also I was reading where someone suggested adding a 0.40 mh air inductor in the woofer line. Evidently this would then be the exact crossover as the KLH 6. Not sure if cost is why it was left out of the 17 or what.

The 8.2uF would be fine. Can't comment on the inductor.

I've read that the Seventeen woofer naturally rolls off steeply at 1500 hz. KLH probably thought to save $$ they would just not use an inductor and any difference would be minimal. Being a bit OCD, I often thought about adding one to the many 17s I've had, but I could never justify either the work or expense, especially since everything that comes out of them is sooooo sweet.

The Model 17 (10") and the Model 6 (12") woofers are not the same. They are not the same size and I am sure they have different parameters. I would not expect the low pass filter for the Model 6 woofer to work with the Model 17 woofer.

If you want to add an inductor, the best option is to measure the parameters of the 17 woofer and select an appropriate value inductor.
