You are close to the finish line, but there are still a few more steps to go.

From making sure you’re eligible to graduate to requesting accommodations for your guests, find everything you need to prepare for Commencement in our checklist below.

Be sure to complete these tasks early so you don't miss any deadlines.

Graduate checklist

Check your eligibility and apply to graduate

Verify your eligibility for graduation with your school recorder. Apply to graduate by October 1, 2024, to ensure your name is printed in the program and you receive your diploma.

Name and mailing address

In order to have your degree name and home mailing address correct, please update both items in the student center in One.IU.edu. Click to learn how to update your personal information.

Order your cap and gown

Rent your official IU cap and gown from our partner, Herff Jones, by April 5 to avoid additional fees. 2025 Ceremony order link not yet active. Please check back.

GradFair

Check off several Commencement tasks at once by attending GradFair on Wednesday, March 26, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fireside A&B next to the University Grill.

Accessibility Information

Our trained Commencement organizers provide services to graduates and guests who need accommodations. A lift is available for graduates to access the stage. Seating for guests utilizing a wheelchair or scooter is available in the arena. For those with limited mobility, elevators are located at Gate 9 (the main entrance). The ceremony will be open captioned on video screens.
