JEE Main Exam 2024 Dos and Don'ts

Preparing for a competitive exam like JEE Main requires unyielding dedication, motivation, and the willingness to put in effort. However, the last week is crucial for candidates who want to obtain a good rank in JEE Main to become eligible for JEE Advanced.

Some of the essential dos and don'ts are listed below:

Do Not Try to Learn Anything New

Candidates tend to learn new topics for JEE Mains 2024 at the last minute in an attempt to cover more before the exam begins. This is not the right approach to preparing for JEE Main 2024. Students are advised not to engage themselves in such practices right before the exam. Students are advised not to engage in such practices right before the exam and create additional anxiety.

Instead of covering more topics, they skip revising the topics they are good at, which eventually impacts their exam scores. The candidates must revise what they have covered based on its relevance and weightage in JEE Main 2024. Candidates should also ensure they write down all significant concepts, formulae, assertions, tricks, and so forth.

Analysing the Mock Tests

Candidates must analyse their performance in the mock tests before the exam. Candidates are advised to carefully go through their mock tests and identify the areas where they have made mistakes or attempted the answers incorrectly. Candidates should work on their weak areas and revise them before the exams.

Hours of Sleep and Study

Candidates should ensure they get adequate rest in the days leading up to the exam. Getting at least seven hours of sleep the night before the exam is necessary to improve their mental ability and retention skills. Along with that, it also prevents the candidates from getting exhausted, which can cause severe health damage.

It is recommended that candidates take a 10-minute break after continuously studying for 50 minutes. This enables the brain to absorb more information efficiently and helps the candidates feel more energised. It also improves their ability to concentrate and helps them maintain a habit of studying consistently for JEE Main Preparation.

Arrange the Essentials

Finally, candidates should arrive at the exam centre at least 30 minutes early on exam day so that they do not have to rush at the last minute and stress themselves out. Before leaving the house, candidates must ensure all the necessary documents like admit card, Aadhar card, etc.

Additional Suggestion

When taking the exam, candidates should tackle the questions they know and avoid making wild guesses, which can result in a negative marking. Time management is critical since there are only 180 minutes to answer 75 questions. It is recommended not to spend more than two minutes on a single question. Doing this will also save time which can be used later to solve difficult questions.

Similar Exams to JEE Main 2024

There are a few exams similar to JEE Main 2024, which can also be attempted by students appearing for JEE Main, such as:

Apart from the exams mentioned above, SRMJEEE is another popular exam. Overall, most aspiring engineers appear for more than one exam in an academic session. Students can take many other engineering entrance exams after completing Class 12 for admission to B.Tech. Engineering programmes in the academic year 2024.

What After JEE Main 2024?

All the candidates aspiring to get admission to undergraduate programs at IITs must appear for B.E/B.Tech of JEE Main 2024. Based on the performance in the B.E/B.Tech of JEE Main, the number of top candidates, as per the requirements of JEE Advanced (including all the categories), will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.

Practical Knowledge/Career Goals

Following are the details regarding future skills and career prospects that can be helpful to candidates in choosing the streams and courses after clearing the exam.

Future Skills

Different skill sets are required for each engineering discipline for different types of jobs. While some of the specific skill sets will be developed as they progress through their institutional syllabus and training, the student must investigate their alignment with their present skill set when filling out the choice of seats for the engineering discipline.

Candidates have the option of choosing either:
